FAQ

About us:

What is Wild Hives?

We are a small family run honey retailer with a great love of honey. We seek out small independent beekeepers from around Europe to bring you some of the best raw unprocessed premium quality honeys. We strive to keep constantly expanding our selection of different varieties of honeys covering more and more different corners of Europe.

We are also urban beekeepers, with s handful of beehives in our back garden in North London, and with our own London honey on sale in Summer 2014.

Who runs Wild Hives?

Wild Hives is mainly a team of 2: Noel and Margarita.

Noel - does our website, looks after our bees, taste checks every batch of our honey, finds new customers, occassionally packs your honeys and occassionally answers your emails.

Noel makes these amazing pear pancakes and pours some natural yoghurt over them and drizzles his favorite chestnut honey on top.

Margarita - sources the amazing honeys, packs your honeys, reads all of the emails, messages etc and does her best to answer them all, writes blog posts, and is passionate about making Wild Hives experience the best it can be and is always looking for new ideas and improvements.

Margarita loves her morning toast with some Buckwheat or Eucalyptus honey on it.

About Wild Hives honey

Why is Wild Hives more expensive than the supermarket?

Our honeys are produced by small scale beekeepers, are unflitered, unheated, unblended or treated in any other way, pure raw and natural straight from beehives, something that is almost impossible to achieve on industrial level, and something that is not very cost effective, yet delivers the best quality honey pact with all the health benefits that are naturally there, and you can really taste the difference!

Where does Wild Hives honey come from?

We keep expanding our range and try to source our honey from as many different European countries as possible, so the places might differ from season to season. However, we always source our honey from a small scale independent beekeepers who are passionate about honey, proud in their natural beekeeping methods, and meticulous about the production of the highest quality and only raw unprocessed and untampered with honey.

What is raw honey?

Raw honey is the highest quality honey you can find, it basically comes straight from a beehive to a honey jar. Raw honey is never heated, pasteurized, blended with other honeys, nor any other substances. It is filtered just lightly to get rid of bee debris and wax but never ultra filtered, which preserves pollen inside it, and that is what carries most of the health benefits that honeys are known for. The best gift from nature in its purest form
